I know it's silly/trite/boring to talk about the weather, but hey, this isn't a novel, so I'm gonna do it. Again. This time not bitching, but with appreciation.

We were under a tornado watch this evening. The sunset was brilliant coral and heavy black, mingled in big puffy swirls of cloud. Lightning flashed in the distance every few seconds, mostly the kind that only puts spotlights on the clouds. Yet, when I went out to the barn, with all that sky-action going on, the air was perfectly still. No wind, not even a breeze. Except for distant traffic, it was quiet, the far away lightning giving us no thunder. It should have been eerie, but instead it was oddly peaceful and tickled my childlike sense of wonder.

You're not talking about the weather here - you're talking about the majesty and awesomeness of nature, and there's nothing trite about that. *hugs*

Wow. I can picture it clearly from your description. So beautiful. One of those One with the Universe moments.

And then the planet does something like a tsunami....
