A grim night. We had to kill something.

I think most of you reading this will think I'm crazy, being sorry for having to kill a snake. But Randi and I hate to kill anything. I made Randi do it, and she cried the whole time, and I cried after. We felt so bad for the poor thing.

But it was a copperhead, in Rosa's stall. In fact, if Randi hadn't seen it, I would have stepped right on it when I was feeding. We didn't have a choice. It could have killed one of our horses or one of our dogs. So we had to do it.

I'm awfully sorry for the poor thing. But I still can't regret it. My roomie's a bit of a hero - she saved me from a trip to the emergency room, and maybe worse. And she saved Rose, too.

We don't even like to kill bugs, but there's a point where you have to consider it the natural order of things. :/ Thank goodness you all were okay and stayed safe in the process of it.

Yeep!! I'm glad everybody escaped unscathed! And I admire you for feeling bad for the snake, in the end... o.O I don't know if I'd have felt the same. Well, I guess I probably would've... but yeah, it was the right thing to do. *Hugs!*

It could have killed you! Your roomie is very brave -- I don't know that I would've been able to do it.

All the same, I can see why it saddened you. The problem is the snake has a right to live, too.

I don't think you're crazy. When it comes to animals and other critters, you're very much like Dan and I. You have the utmost love and respect for them. I can only imagine how upsetting it must have been to kill that snake but, considering the situation, your actions were well and truly justified. Don't beat yourself up about it, sweetheart.

If it had been me, I would have had no qualms about killing it, and I certainly wouldn't have cried for it, but I wouldn't have taken any pleasure in it, either.
