Sep. 22nd, 2008 07:10 pmDivette died.
We were afraid there was something else wrong - we think it might have been feline leuk. But she died quietly sometime during the day today, although she'd improved a lot last night.
She had a good, long life. By our best reckoning, she was about 14, a good age for a stray cat. Because although she got spayed, and her shots, and fed regularly, she was still a "stray" cat.
I'm not sure I've ever told the story about how she got her name. Her mother, Tsarina (who we lost to feline leuk long ago) came to us with her kitten in tow, and we fed them. The kitten would follow us down to the barn and meoooowwwww in a plaintive, warbling way. At the time, there was all that fuss about the divas, and I told her she sang like a diva, but she was too small to be a diva - hence, a little diva, or Divette.
I'm so sad. We tried, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
